Practical psychology

Practical Psychology is a field of psychological science focused on psychological support — the professional activities of psychologists aimed at addressing the specific problems, needs, and requests of individuals.

Practical psychology emerged in response to growing public interest in human well-being and reflects the ability of modern psychology to address a wide range of individual and social challenges.

The field addresses problems at three main levels:

• Individual — personal development, difficulties, needs, and life challenges;

• Group — family, organizational, and other interpersonal contexts;

• Mass and strategic — psychological processes and challenges affecting society and large groups.

Practical psychologists provide a broad range of professional psychological services, including assessing a child’s readiness for school, supporting businesses and organizations, contributing to marketing and advertising, and evaluating interpersonal compatibility in different types of group activities.

Psychologists also provide professional recommendations to managers, educators, healthcare professionals, public safety specialists, architects, transport planners, and military personnel on issues where psychological factors play an important role in decision-making and professional practice.
