A petroleum and gas geologist is a specialist who studies the geological conditions and processes responsible for the formation and accumulation of hydrocarbons in the Earth’s crust. Their work is based on fundamental geological disciplines and involves a wide range of field, laboratory, and remote-sensing methods for studying the composition and structure of the Earth’s crust and lithosphere, as well as geological modeling and information technologies for processing geological data.
The educational program provides students with professional knowledge and practical skills required to address challenges related to the prospecting and exploration of oil and gas fields.
The program has a strong applied focus and is designed to prepare specialists capable of organizing and conducting geological research at all stages of the geological study of petroleum and gas-bearing areas.
Graduates can pursue careers in positions such as Assistant Geologist, Assistant Petroleum and Gas Exploration Geologist, Assistant Geophysicist, Assistant Geoscience Information Specialist supporting geological exploration activities, Geological Technician, and Geophysical Technician.
