Hydrogeology

Graduates of the Master’s educational program “Hydrogeology” acquire a comprehensive set of general and specialized competencies required of professional researchers specializing in hydrogeological investigations in geology and the hydrogeological assessment and justification of mineral resource extraction.

Graduates are eligible to continue their education at the doctoral level (PhD) in Earth Sciences.

The “Hydrogeology” program is an educational and professional, practice-oriented program. A distinctive feature of the program is its preparation of specialists who integrate knowledge of the conditions of groundwater formation and migration through the Earth’s crust with technologies for the development and operation of mineral deposits.

Graduates are trained to provide geological and chemical-metrological support for groundwater extraction, develop scientific forecasts of environmental impacts arising from the prospecting, exploration, and operation of mineral deposits and drainage systems, and cooperate with environmental regulatory authorities and local communities on issues of environmental safety and the protection of the geological environment.

The program integrates knowledge of hydrogeology, mineral deposit geology, chemistry, and environmental protection to address the protection of the geological environment and groundwater from contamination and to promote the environmentally safe extraction of mineral resources.
